The Northwest Hawaiian Golf Association was started in 1997. Peter Buza from Kauai and owner of the Kauai Family Restaurant, and his golf pal and former NWHGA President Phil Baqui from Maui, decided, on a dare, to see if they could market the idea to his restaurant patrons of starting a golf club of members from Hawaii. Well the first year we had 37 members. The clubs’ loosely put together mission statement is, “To play golf with other locals throughout our new home in the Northwest.” The bottom line of this club is to have fun, compete fairly and enjoy everyone’s company.
But…anyone can join!
Not from Hawaii? We welcome you even more! Being Hawaiian at heart is the most important qualifier.
We have a GHIN handicap system with two flights. “A flight”, the good golfers with a lower handicap, and “B flight”, the not so good golfers with the bloated handicap.
We give awards at the end of the year. The winners names are then placed on the NWHGA winners plaque, that is on display at Kauai Family Restaurant. What started as a dare the club membership had gone as high as 60 members. Mainly, we have a lot of fun!!!

Prospective/New Members
The Northwest Hawaiian Golf Association annual dues are $55.00, payable with the New Member Application form. Fill out the form and mail it in with a check OR e-mail the required information to info@nwhga.org and pay online below.
A GHIN handicap is necessary to participate in our tournaments. If you do not have a GHIN card you may obtain one through our club – cost $28.00. If you already pay GHIN through another club, please provide us with your GHIN number and Club number so we can post your tournament scores.
The optional Hole-in-One/Closest-to-the-Hole pot is an additional $10.00.
Returning Members
Open and print the Membership Renewal form and send in. Annual dues are $55.00. GHIN card ($28.00) and optional Hole-in-One pot ($10.00) are additional. (note: price increase for GHIN in 2011 from $25 to $28)
